If you are a modern architecture enthusiast, you will love the Hollin Hills Home and Garden tour in Alexandria.

Hollin Hills is a 326-acre historic community designed by renowned architect Charles Goodman between 1940 and 1970. It is comprised of 450 mid-century homes and was the first community in the Washington, DC Metro area to be made up entirely of contemporary homes. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013 and is a Virginia Landmark Historic District.

The fascination for Hollin Hills Homes began in 1949 when developed and builder Robert Davenport charged the public 25 cents to view the first available home. The viewing drew hundreds of people leading to the formation of the home tour in 1953. The tour now attracts over 1000 people.

The 2020 Hollin Hills Home and Garden Tour will be on Saturday, May 2 from noon to 6 pm.  The tour will include 10 examples of the mid-century modern architecture, interior design, and landscaping that Hollin Hills is known for.
